Kickoff pictures Day One pictures Day Two pictures There was a last-minute addition to the line-up, which I didnāt cover in my last post. Mercora presented to Chris Shipley last week, and she just had to have them close out the event. It was an interesting demo…
Live from DEMOfall Day Two 9/27/06
Day two of DEMO was in full effect, and I was running as fast as I could to keep up. Imagine a ballroom and pavilion full of mouth-watering technology and gadgets, top tier media and bloggers, overactive buzz word factories, and an elite crowd of nervous and excited presenters. Photo Credit: Rob Lee, the man who makes everything happen 67 presenters and only 6 minutes to show the world how they will change it. A few friends have helped…
Live from DEMOfall – 9/26/06
Photo Credit: Greg Narain of Social Roots Welcome and opening remarks by Chris Shipley, Executive Produce, DEMO Conferences Itās time for a Ballroom Blitz as the music blared and the lights dimmed. In a dramatic fashion, images from previous events cycled through on the two gigantic screens on either side of the stage, leading up to Chris Shipleyās arrival. Her presence, as always is nothing less than impressive. Her opening remarks were focused and poignant, claiming that this DEMO would…
Revision3 Launch Party
While I’m here at DEMOfall, I missed the Revision3 launch party. Scott Beale captured the event, and by looking at his pictures, I absolutely wish I could have been in two places at once. Photo Credit: Scott Beale / Laughing Squid For the story, jump over to Laughing Squid. “The founders of Digg just launched their new video content company Revision3 tonight, with a massive party at Mighty in San Francisco. Special guests from Tiki Bar TV , Ask A…
Live from DEMOfall 2006 Monday 9/25/06
Today was a day of rehearsals, pavilion setup and a presenterās briefing courtesy of the DEMO cast and crew. After setup, we had a bit of time to kill, and then it was off to the 6 p.m. event reception. Talk about pulling out all of the stops! It was an incredible mix of demonstrators, attendees and media ā along the harbor outside the Sheraton, which also partly bordered the poolside with lively waterfalls. The crowd Chris Shipley DEMO…
Live from DEMOfall 2006 9/24
It’s 9/24, and DEMO is about to launch. In fact, I’m already in San Diego and we just finished-up our rehearsal. In case you have never been to a DEMO event, they’re technically “THE” launchpad for many, many leading companies, includuing Palm, HandSpring, and eTrade. Presenters have only six minutes to present their company and new product/service in front of the industry’s most prominent players. I will post updates and photos from the show here , so check back daily….
Beta: The San Francisco Web 2.0 Meetup/Launch Party
Written by Alison McNeill I attended the launch party for Betaās Web 2.0 Meetup in San Francisco. Christian Perry, founder and CEO of Zaptix, put the whole thing together and it was held in the heart of downtown at the Bar of Contemporary Art (boca). Funny thing though, I didnāt see any art. I was able to talk with Christian beforehand and ask him about his motivation for the event: Q: Whatās the inspiration for BETA? A: San Francisco lacked…
Read TechCrush Crushed? Over at Stowe Boyd’s /Message
Stowe wrote an excellent post that brings back recent memories re: the Web 2.0 trademark fiasco and the ensuing PR fallout for O’Reilly and CMP . . Recently launched TechCrush , which was inspired by Stowe in a previous post, TechMunch Begets TechCrush , has temporarily ceased posting due to a potential trademark conflict with TechCrunch. Although, I personally preferred TechMunch over TechCrush… With less than 10 posts underneath its belt, covering Flock, iKarma and Jigsaw, the latest TechCrush post,…
The Social Bookmarking Faceoff and its Effects on PR
Hats off to Paul over at StarkedSF for this tip. An interesting story ran over at Read / Write Web discussing the market of social bookmarking as well as comparing several leaders in the space – although it doesn’t seem to include RawSugar and FURL , among others. I’ve recently held discussions with Todd Defren , Shel Holtz , Chris Heuer, and Tom Foremski regarding social bookmarking, individually, as well as on the NMR “New Media Release” Cast, and how…
