Studying the impact of innovation on business and society

Introducing a new live video series, Intersections: Where Ideas and Possibility Converge

The new media world is simply incredible. It’s rich with opportunities to learn and share with platforms that make onboarding, creating, publishing and consuming content approachable by just about anyone. I’ve been blogging since about 2004, producing online videos shortly thereafter and podcasting for the last few years. It wasn’t until recently however that I started to experiment with live-streaming as a host.

In development for about six months, I’m proud to announce “Intersections: Where Ideas and Possibility Converge,” a new weekly series with innovator, author, speaker, musician/composer, and thinker extraordinaire, Mr. John Kao.

Intersections is modeled after jazz improvisationalists, presented as a one-hour conversational jam session. Each week, we dive deep into the intersections of technology, innovation, culture, and ideas. We bring diverse personalities and worldviews together in service of greater understanding and unlearning.

The show logo (above) features the intersection of two different thoughts coming together as one new idea. It was created together with Amy Bernhardt Designs. We just love it!

The show features our amazing friends, mentors, and idols, ranging from two-to-three guests per episode.

Our first show went live on August 27, 2020 with “Episode Zero.” We used our first show to introduce one another and explore the show’s concept, goal, and format. I should also note, that Mr. Kao is also the talent behind the music used in our intro and outro for the show!

Live video is dynamic and we’re experimenting with technology and experiences as we go. From the get go however, we knew that we needed visual accompaniment to graphically record these incredible conversations. John brought his long-time ally Lesley Evers into the mix.

In a word, Lesley is an artist, truly. Her work is highly-regarded, helping to pave new ground for the medium dating back to 2011. Every episode, Lesley brings her unique talent to the screen, visually recording conversations in real-time. Her screen is prominently featured in its own window throughout the show.

When she’s not graphically recording engagements, she’s running her own fashion brand based in Oakland, Calif.

You can see Lesley’s graphic recording of Episode 0 below.
