How Distractions and the Multitasking Myth Hurt Employee Productivity and Focus
Dear managers and HR professionals, today’s global health disruption is accelerating another pandemic, a digital pandemic… Work collaboration tools were supposed to help us reduce time spent on unnecessary emails. However, studies show that employees still spend an average of 209 minutes – three and a half hours – each day checking email. While that’s down from 256 minutes in 2016, it seems that collaborative apps aren’t replacing email, but simply adding yet another layer of distraction during our workday….

The cloud is a key enabler of business transformation. IT leaders, business executives and digital transformation architects are migrating to the cloud to modernize operations enterprise-wide. All This Technology is Making Us More Human
Part 2 of 2 I once had the honor of giving a TEDx Talk in San Francisco. I’ll never forget it. Even though I speak for a living, speaking at TED honestly terrified me. There’s something about the TED stage, the big ideas and the iconic personalities who have graced it over the years that has a way of grounding and even intimidating you. The experience was so powerful and life-changing, I sought to subject myself to the jitters and butterflies…
In the Future of Work, Technology is Both a Problem and Solution
As a digital analyst and anthropologist, I’ve studied over the last 20 years, the evolution of disruptive technology and its effect on business philosophies and models. At the same time, I’ve also studied disruptive technology’s impact on society and human behavior. If I had to share just one thing I’ve learned along the way, it’s that markets are splintering into two notable camps: 1) traditional and 2) hyper-connected aka Generation-C (connected). While this may at first glance seem either obvious…
The Art and Science of Human Centered Change and Innovation
When it comes to employee engagement and experience, innovation and digital transformation, corporate culture is under appreciated and largely neglected. Did you know that 85% of employees around the world are not engaged or actively disengaged at work according to Gallup? This global “norm” costs approximately $7 trillion in lost productivity. Titled “Culture 2.0 – The Art and Science of Human-Centered Change and Innovation,” my keynote at the Digital Workplace Experience aimed to change that. Culture is incredibly important to the…

Econsultancy – What Are “Change Agents” and Why Are They the Future of Organisational Culture?
The skills required to make someone a change agent are best summarised in the Digital Change Agent’s Manifesto, published by author and digital analyst Brian Solis. According to Solis, a change agent “can rise from anywhere in the organization….anyone who builds digital programs, infrastructure and capabilities as a part of their work or because they are passionate about digital can become a digital change agent.”
The manifesto also outlines four critical roles that change agents tend to assume some or all of within their organisations:
Data gatherer and storyteller
Influencer
Relationship builder
Champion
All of these are functions that, in Solis’ words, “actively foster agility, instill confidence, and promote communication and collaboration”.
