AI has a leadership problem. For the last few years, people have been told that AI is coming for their jobs, their careers, even their relevance. Then we act surprised when people respond with fear, anger, or outright rejection.
I recently joined my new friend Cal Fussman to talk about why I believe this is a leadership failure, and why we still have an opportunity to change the future.
I shared a moment that changed my own thinking. After listening to Geoffrey Hinton (watch the video here) describe a future in which humans may no longer be the apex intelligence, I found myself confronting a my truth:
There are things I cannot control. But there are also things I can. That was my Mindshift moment.
Instead of asking what AI will do to us, we can start asking what becomes possible with it.
What can I do now that I couldn’t do before?
What can AI do that it couldn’t do without me?
That is the difference between artificial intelligence and augmented intelligence.
The future doesn’t have to be something we inherit. Instead, we must participate in shapingit.
Thank you, Cal, for such a thoughtful conversation. I look forward to our next one!
Please watch and share your thoughts! 🙏
p.s. this interview was scheduled to talk about Dave’s and my new book, Infinite. I’m not sure we actually got to it!
